The line graph shows the upward trend of the worldwide water use from 1900 to 2000. The second table indicates the water usages of Brazil and Congo in 2000.
According to the line graph, the agriculture sector consumed about 500 km3 water in 1900. The figure of this sector went up gradually until 2000, and reached the peak of 3000 km3. Compared with the industrial and domestic sectors, these two sectors used less water. Starting from 1900, the industrial sector used about 20 km3 water while the domestic sector used only 10km3. Although the water used in these two sectors increased steadily, the industrial sector consumed only about one-third of water consumed by the agriculture sector. Besides, the domestic sector only consumed a quarter of water used by the industrial sector.
In 2000, an average person in Brazil consumed 359m3 of water while the individual in Congo only consumed 8m3. This is because the population of Brazil was about 35 times of Congo, they spent much more water. Moreover, the area of the irrigated land of Congo was 265 times less than Brazil, therefore Congo used less water for irrigation purpose.
In conclusion, the uptrend of water consumption decreases from 3000 consumed by agriculture sector to about 400 km3 by domestic use in Year 2000. Also it is found that the consumption of water depends on the number of population, the more population there is in the country, the more water people will consume.
