Birth Rates
The bar graph compares the two average birth rates held by each woman in 1970 and 2000 in five different countries, i.e. Thailand, Spain, Somalia, Mexico and India.
In 1970, Thai’s woman held the highest birth rate of about 5.4 each person among the five countries. Spanish’s woman was the second highest, the number of children born to each Spanish’s woman was about 5. The birth rate of Mexico was about 3.5 to one woman. The amount of children born by each woman in Somalia and India was about 3.
In 2000, the birth rate of each woman in Thailand, Spain and Mexico dropped drastically, to about 3, just more than 2 and about 1.5 children were born to each woman respectively. However, the number of children born in India went up to about 3.4. As for the birth rate in Somalia, the amount of birth rate still remained the same.
In conclusion, in Thailand, Spain and Mexico, there is the decreasing trend in the birth rate whereas India shows the increasing trend. On the whole, we can see that the total number of children born in 1970 is more that in 2000.
