Argumentative essay on online activities

Nowadays, online activities become very popular among teenagers. However, these activities can unfavorably affect the youngsters’ social skills, language skills and the relationships with their families.

First, youngsters spend a lot of time expressing their thoughts on their blogs, MSN or face book. Although they can considered as good ways to share ideas with people, they provide less chance to develop actual social skills. Since this kind of communication requires no face-to-face interaction, the youngsters may not be able to manage how to communicate with people in a real situation.

Moreover, the language used in the internet world is too casual, such as some short form of words, symbols as well as the new terms created by individual users. If the youngsters always use such language, their language ability must be affected. In other words, they cannot express themselves clearly with some formal or accurate wordings, sometimes they don’t even know how to spell and write correctly.
In addition, the youngsters enjoy spending too much time browsing the internet. They have less time to communicate with their families, and the relationships will be influenced. For example, some youngsters spend less time on their studies because of the online activities, they will be blamed by their parents. Eventually, their relationship may be broken easily
